Vehicles parked in a truck or on a trailer are not counted separately. The reservoir spans 700 acres at 5,500 feet elevation.The area is part of the Eldorado National Forest, which stretches across the famed gold mining territory of the 1800s. No drinking water is available, so bring water or use properly boiled stream water. The group site can accommodate 40 guests for tent camping. The sites include 9 walk-to units and 4 sites with parking spurs. Sly Park Recreation Area is on the edge of the Eldorado National Forest, an hour's drive northeast of Sacramento. Most of of camp sites have pretty good shade, and with a little strategic placement you can make sure your tent isn't baking in the evening. I thought Sunday night would be packed since the campground was fully booked. I was happy to find the sites were very spread out so it didn't feel crowded at all! We stayed at site 57 the first night and site 55 the next night.
Is Ice House Campground sold out?
It's far enough away without being a all day drive, and it's right on the water. It’s large enough to explore with a SUP and small enough to keep the motor boat and jet skis to a manageable amount. Beautiful campground, great trout fishing, and best of all, it's peaceful. Occasionally you might get some other campers near you, but they will not be a bother. If you ever get the opportunity, I recommend this place. On Monday we took our kayaks out on the lake which was a lot of fun.

All overnight guests at the campground have access to potable water and coin-operated showers, and reservations can be made ahead of time online or over the phone. It's the only campground open year-round at Folsom Lake. For those coming from Sacramento, it's just over a half-hour drive from the city or a 32-mile bike ride on the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail. Beal's Point is one of three campgrounds within the massive Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. It's on the lake's western shore, near the Folsom Dam, and has 49 family sites with picnic tables and fire pits.
The area surrounding Lake Tahoe offers plenty of biking opportunities. There aren’t too many trails around Eldorado specifically, but you can find some reviews and information on The Mountain Project . We recommend the El Dorado trail , a 30+ mile singletrack along an old historic railroad. Ice House Campground is located next to the boat launch ramp on the northwest shore of Ice House Reservoir in the Crystal Basin area of Eldorado National Forest. The campground is popular with anglers, boaters, cyclists, and families. Reach the campground by traveling 11 miles on Ice House Road off Highway 50 and then 1½ miles on Forest Road 32. Directly north of Emerald Bay, D.L. Bliss State Park offers over 160 similar spots to spend the night.
Horses are permitted on the Ice House Reservoir bike trail. For campground purposes, a vehicle is any equipment that is required to be licensed/registered. This includes RVs, trailers, cars/trucks, boat/car trailer, motorcycle/atv, etc.

It's on the banks of the scenic Ice House Reservoir and is great for activities like fishing, paddle sports, and swimming. And the ponderosa pine forest surrounding the campground is nothing but postcard perfect.
The campground is just over an hour drive from Sacramento, including a curvy nine-mile road from the small community of Pilot Hill. Auburn State Recreation Area encompasses incredible beauty surrounding the North and Middle Forks of the American River, accessible from Sacramento with an hour-long drive. Over 100 miles of hiking trails span this long, linear recreation area, as well as three campgrounds. Silver Creek, located in the Crystal Basin area, offers a fun atmosphere with beautiful scenery for group gatherings.
